CRAZY DEE: BIO

It all began, Crazy Dee's Freshman Year in college. Crazy Dee came to the attention of an Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity member who hired Crazy Dee to disc jockey the College Ice Breaker, and the beginning of Crazy Dee's rise to prominence began. He went on to DJ for various Fraternities and Sororities, including: Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi and Delta Sigma Theta (who presented him with a plaque, honoring him for excellent service).

Crazy Dee went on to host his first radio show entitled "Allah Sent", where he played a variety of Hip Hop music, R&B, Old School and Soul Music-- all within a carefully crafted mix on the two turntables. The people loved it, and he was hired for gigs outside of the college system.

He began to produce remixes utilizing a 4-track unit. He often played the remixes, on the radio, and the people began to request the purchase of his remixes. Once the popularity of his cassettes grew, he began duplicating his remixes for people to buy. His original Cleveland style, which set him apart from DJ's, from New York or LA, was a style where he would cut and scratch records while adding a follow track, placed underneath the main songs playing. This technique changed the beat construction of the music he mixed, and this style would cause the songs to become way-too-funky to resist. He released "THE GREATEST MIX CD BY CRAZY DEE" in the winter of that year.

Crazy Dee took his ability into the studio, and began producing songs for local MC's/Rappers around the city. His first release was/is JUSDALIL'SUMTHIN'. Recorded on a shoestring budget-- the music brought a new sound to hip hop music, and later-- all of his copies were purchased by a Japanese music dealer who was more than enthusiastic to purchase Crazy Dee's production, which stands the test of time. With hits, including: JusDaLil'Sumthin', Wack Emcee Killer, Sex-O-Page, Bass Hoe, Skinnie Dip, No Killin' What Can't Be Killed and 'F' These Hoes-- The CD is still the dopest.  Crazy Dee followed JusDaLil'Sumthin' with a remix CD. He introduced his fans to the new moniker "Lord Dee", which complimented the title of the CD-- Cleveland Is Mine Saith The Lord. This began Crazy Dee's pursuit of the perfect female image to represent the African-American woman. Like he had done with multiple remixes before, he used a nude image. But, he hired an artist to create the image of a Black Angel-- a representation of "Goodness and Mercy", looking out for the Black Man who is subject to racism, struggles to make money, and ill-addictions. The cover overall is a representation of what Black People went/still go through in America, "the greatest country in the world".  Dee, shortly after the release of Cleveland Is Mine Saith The Lord, opened CRAZY DEE'S MUSIC PALACE. He moved from DJing and Remixing Music to owning his own CD/DVD Store. To celebrate the grand opening of his business, Crazy Dee produced the first double remix CD. His most ambitious offering to his fans and the world.

He entitled the release Lord Dee presents The Gospel According To Cleveland AKA "The Realm". The CD incorporated the songs which influenced Mid-West and West Coast Hip Hop, since the early 80's.

Crazy Dee jumped into working in the store to make CRAZY DEE'S MUZIC PALACE the best known store in the Mid-West; taking trips to music seminars like the IMPACT Convention, and reporting to Urban Network and The College Music Journal. At the same time-- Crazy Dee joined a college DJ to co-host THE RACE CHRONICLES. The radio show put the spotlight on independent artists' music, the remixing of Crazy Dee, and the social commentary of Crazy Dee.

The Source Magazine came calling, and featured CRAZY DEE'S MUZIC PALACE, Crazy Dee and the acts he was producing. The writer told Crazy Dee he saw his commercial on BET and had to come report on an authentic record store, built-off hip hop. The reporter received bios, CD's, and he and the photographer were so impressed with the professionalism-- though not the only store mentioned in the article-- his was the only store which received photographs of the store and artists Crazy Dee was building.

During his days producing music, Crazy Dee was introduced to a local videograher. He looked for an apprentice, and Crazy Dee took the opportunity to learn editing and be on local access TV. From the training he received, Crazy Dee expanded his pursuit of 'the perfect African-American female form' by producing "behind the scenes" DVD's, spotlighting the photo shoots he conducted.

Crazy Dee picked up the camera becoming the photographer in his city. He had a curtain style of photograph, he looked to produce, so necessity is the engine of creativity. He initially used the photos to promote local models on his CD covers, but once the DVD market began to blow up, Crazy Dee decided to create his own line of DVD titles, with the expressed desire to capture the perfect expression of the African-American female form. Examples of Crazy Dee's CD covers below.

DVD titles included The 2004 DVD Calendar, Model Stretch Techniques DVD and the Original BLKICE DVD. Crazy Dee used the Lord Dee moniker to develop an new production name for the DVD titles. "Lordland Presents" was born. The DVD's featured behind the scenes of artistic nude photo shoots, which produced calendars, CD covers, flyers and other promotional material. The women sold the DVD's and Calendars, and went on to be local celebrities in their own right.

To promote the release of the ORIGINAL BLKICE DVD, Crazy Dee produced a double remix CD entitled MUSIC FOR THE PARTY. It was wildly successful, and it fueled the release of the DVD. The DVD brought together the "Lordland Models" at a photo shoot; Crazy Dee wrote the script, asking-- "What Would Happen If A Photo Shoot Went Wrong?" "What If The Models Get To Speaking On Social Issues (discussing Color of Skin, Good Hair/Bad Hair, The Words "Bitch" and "Nigger")?" "What Would Happen If The Models Were Not All On The Same Page?" With imagery of death and rebirth, through the models dropping a towel to nudity, and picking up a piece of fabric to wrap themselves, in individual African Personality, it was an early example of performance art-- later done by Erykah Badu in the video for Window Seat. The Original BLKICE is from-where Crazy Dee found the inspiration to begin to write THE BLKICE CHRONICLES.  ORIGINAL BLKICE, SDTK - CLICK HERE

Crazy Dee released two remix CD's back to back, to explore new remix techniques, and new styles of music to remix. The first, from what Crazy Dee suggests is the new era, is "I'M CRAZY DEE, GOOGLE ME!" and the second is "CRAZY DEE'S REMIXES MOVE LIKE HOTCAKES". Both were released in between the release of ORIGINAL BLKICE and the release of what are the three award winning films written, directed and edited by Dee, that garnered him attention in Hollywood.
